“Young guy, if you have my shoes, you’ll have more buckets!” : Kobe Bryant tickled Tristan Thompson’s funny bone when they first met

Kobe Bryant, ‘The Black Mamba’ was one of the toughest players to ever step foot on a basketball court

Let’s face it, there will never be another Kobe Bryant. His dedication, passion, mentality, willingness to never give up, and continued pursuit of excellence set him apart from other players in the league.

Fans have often compared Bryant to the greatest basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan. The game of these two legends had a lot of similarities, including this magnificent jump shot.

Tristan Thompson, 20, had a fun first encounter with the Lakers legend

The No. 4 overall pick in the 2o12 NBA Draft, Tristan Thompson got to experience what it was like to share the court with Bryant.

Bryant approached Thompson and noticed he was wearing LeBron James’ signature shoes.

“Young guy, if you got my shoes, you got more buckets,” Bryant said, much to Thompson’s amusement.

“A guy I’ve looked up to all my life, for him to say something like that to me, especially as a rookie, it made me laugh and it was like, ‘These guys are human,'” Thompson said. “Growing up, you think of these guys as superhuman. The fact that he said that to me is something I will always tell my kids when I get older.

The impact Kobe Bryant has had, not just on Thompson, but on his peers, coaches, legends of the game and the next generation of players is something truly wonderful to witness.
