Nike seemingly can’t get enough of new colorways, especially when it comes to the Nike Dunk Low silhouette. As part of its October release, the brand is gearing up for the launch of a new “Florida A&M University” (FAMU) edition that will sport an Orange Horizon/Fortress Green-Sail color scheme. All colors come directly from the FAMU palette.
The Nike Dunk Low “Florida A&M University” pair releases October 18, 2022 at 7:30 PM EST. These low orange greens will retail for $120 for each pair.
Interested buyers can purchase these limited-edition shoes from Nike’s SNKRS app and the brand’s select vendors as well as their offline stores.
The Nike Dunk Low shoe received a “Florida A&M University” inspired makeover with orange and green overlays
The Nike Dunk was a low-top basketball shoe first introduced in the mid-1980s. As part of its Be True To Your School campaign, Nike decided to associate the shoe with a few college athletic programs. Hence, the lowly Dunk has always been associated with colleges.
The brand is looking for new updates to the silhouette among several HBCUs in 2022. The newest Nike Dunk Low to open features a palette influenced by Florida A&M University, in addition to its recent appearance at a North Carolina A&T as well as a Makeup from Clark University in Atlanta.
The description of the Dunk Low Florida A&M University variant on the brand’s webpage reads:
“Carry on. Brag a bit, then ‘Strike! Strike! Strike!’ in the ‘Florida A&M University’ Dunk Low designed by Caitlyn Davis. Reimagining the hoop icon on the street with school-inspired colors and a rattlesnake design on the tongue, it lets you rep the team you love with unmistakable A&M style.Details abound (check out the varsity nods on the heel and outsole), while the crisp leather upper and low-cut padded collar look amazing right out of the box. box.
The shoe is wrapped in soft leather on its overlays as well as its underlays, sporting the FAMU color scheme. The creamy white tone used on the toe box, midfoot, collar area, and tongue flap contrasts with the orange hue of the mudguards, eyelets, lace loops, and heels.
The green “COLAC” stitching on the lateral side of the forefoot represents the school’s nickname, “College of Love and Charity”.
Additionally, the trademarks of Nike that are typically present on the sneaker’s tongue tag are replaced with the school’s mascot – an orange and green rattlesnake. Phrases celebrating the school are found on the back of the language tags.
The company’s famous swoosh continues from the middle of the food to the back of the heel tab in a snake green redesign with 1887 stitching on it. It is a tribute to the year of creation of the FAMU.
The words “We Bragg Different” are placed below in green embroidery. An orange and green tie-dye pattern placed under the cream-colored midsole and semi-translucent rubber outsole completes the shoe.
Mark your calendars for the next Nike Dunk Low “FAMU” variant releasing on Tuesday, October 18, 2022. It is also expected to arrive at select stores near the FAMU campus in Tallahassee, Florida later this year. Retail price is set at $120 for men’s sizes.
