American sportswear company, Nike, has celebrated its highly sought-after sneaker releases from the past, which will now revisit the brand’s classic Nike Air Trainer 1 “Shima Shima” colorblock.
This reissue shoe was originally released in 2003. It was part of Nike’s Japanese-inspired “Shima Shima” shoe pack, which was dropped alongside the legendary Air Max 1 and Dunk High silhouettes, which were dressed in similar colors.
The next Nike Air Trainer 1 Shima Shima shoes will hit the market later this year. Those looking for sturdy shoes with plush soles can pick them up for $125. These classic silhouettes will be sold through Nike’s SNKRS app shopping sites and other affiliate outlets.
The Nike Air Trainer 1 Shima Shima Colorway Arrives With Brown Suede Overlays
After teasing the 1988 “Midnight Navy” iteration and releasing the collaborative lineup with Travis Scott earlier this year, the brand is now gearing up for the “Shima Shima” edition.
it will be relaunched later this year, and unlike the 20-year-old shoes’ limited sales in Asia and Canada, they are expected to have a wider global release this time.
The Air Trainer 1 design inspiration on the official Nike webpage says:
“Inspired by countless visits to a sneaker-laden gym, Tinker Hatfield set out to create shoes designed to perform on the court and in the gym. The Nike Air Trainer 1, aptly named for its encapsulated Nike Air technology, is the fruit of his work.
The brand added:
“Equipped with a higher cut and lateral stabilizer for improved stability and support, the Nike Air Trainer 1 also featured a toe strap for added forefoot lockdown. Another big consideration was the heel lift.
This Air Trainer 1 shoe is completely covered in suedes in distinct hues. The sand suede perforations of the end caps are highlighted in darker shades. Next, shades of brown are used to highlight the upper and sole of the shoe. The tonal make-up is also present on the tongue flaps, which are made with similar sandy suedes.
Towards the collar, the tabs are adorned with brown branded labels. The tabs are topped with dark brown lace tabs as well as rubbery velcro straps towards the lace dubrae. These Velcro straps are inlaid with “NIKE” lettering.
Additionally, the lateral sides sport the typical Nike swooshes fashioned with dark brown suedes.
In keeping with its theme, the inner linings of the sneakers have been detailed with pinstripe patterned textiles. Light-striped interiors are complemented by darker insoles, which are printed with Japanese texts on them.
On the back, these shoes are embroidered with Nike Air brandings. Ultimately, the design is completed with speckled beige midsoles and dark brown outsoles.
Those looking to pick up this upcoming Nike Air Trainer 1 “Shima Shima” release will need to stick around as their official release date is currently pending. Early reports speculate that they will be released side-by-side with the other shoes in the Japanese Motivated Pack.
They will be available online through Nike’s official e-commerce page as well as other retail stores and each pair will cost $125.
