Adidas and Kobe Bryant’s sneaker collaborations have always been some of the best sneakers the world has ever seen, including their Crazy 1 silhouettes, which are not only timeless but also fashion-forward.
The Adidas Kobe Bryant Crazy 1 OG Metallic Silver shoes are expected to arrive in the coming weeks. Although the release date for Kobe’s shoes is being kept under wraps at this time, it will set you back $140 for each pair. These sneakers are presumed to be delivered by Adidas CONFIRMED app and a few selected sellers.
Adidas Kobe Bryant Crazy 1 OG Metallic Silver shoes first appeared in 2000
Adidas said earlier this year that it would bring back Kobe Bryant’s Crazy 1 basketball shoe in “Sunshine”, “Stormtrooper” and now the authentic “Metallic Silver” colorway from 2000.
When Kobe Bryant was under contract with the sportswear brand, the Adidas Crazy 1 shoe was initially known as the Adidas Kobe 1. For those unfamiliar, these sneakers were memorably worn during the 2000 NBA playoffs -2001, when Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers picked up their second victory in the “Kobe and Shaq” era.
On May 31, 2022, some trusted sneaker insiders, namely @Solebyjc and @Sneaktribe, shared the hand-detailed look of the shoes on their Instagram page, which wowed Bryant fans and sneaker lovers alike. .
This Crazy 1 silhouette sports a unique molded soft top, heavily influenced by the Audi TT Roadster. As this model is painted with a metallic silver finish, it fully resembles the OG colorway, which was released two decades ago.
The metallic finish is detailed with black accents throughout the body. The eyelets are made with black textiles, which hold two-tone black and white laces. The tongue tags are also made with a similar black fabric and are embroidered with Adidas branding to the top.
The cushioned collars as well as the inner lining of the sneakers are made with black which gives this metallic silver finish a boost and makes it more attractive. Brand markings are also added to the black leather heel section and outsole base.
A double foam collar, half-shell toe, dark silver EVA footbed and twist mechanism are all distinguishing features. On the outsoles, the Torsion system is highlighted. Finally, the yellow studded spoiler on the heel finished the look.
The Torsion was originally used in the Adidas Trail Runner shoes, where it provided ultralight arch support for improved agility and comfort. However, it was so successful and loved by athletes that Adidas soon began incorporating it into a wider footwear line.
Other Adidas Kobe Bryant shoes reintroduced in 2022
Earlier this year, the German athletic brand also relaunched the “Sunshine” colorway of the Kobe 1 shoes. These pairs were discontinued on April 1, 2022. They arrived with a retail price of $120.
The Sunshine version was also inspired by the Audi TT Roadster, as mentioned earlier. It was also Kobe Bryant’s first designer shoe with a notable sportswear company. The Golden Yellow molded upper was accented with a grippy half-shell forefoot and heel spoiler in this colorway. Other features include a Torsion system and a black inner bootie that comes with a silver EVA footbed.
