A tortoise refuses to let people wear black shoes at home, bullying its owner’s bewildered grandson into wearing other colors or suffering a ‘painful’ attack.

Tommy Shellby always does a bee line for anyone who dares set foot on the property in black shoes. Every time he sees one, he charges with a barrage of disapproving headbutts.

Harry Vines says he is forced to walk around his 82-year-old grandmother Daphne Woodcock’s yard barefoot or in white shoes to avoid attacks by the reptile.

The 24-year-old grandson thinks Tommy might be a fashion-conscious reptile.

“Maybe he’s trying to tell me I look good in white shoes so don’t wear black,” says Harry, from Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.

Mesmerizing footage shows Harry wearing one black shoe and one gray shoe, and Tommy steps forward to forcefully slam his shell against the black one.

Others show him climbing over a pile of white shoes to reach the single black sneaker, while in another experiment Harry lines up black and non-black shoes for Tommy, who hits only the black ones.

Harry admits it’s “odd” to concede he stopped buying black shoes to please the overbearing animal.

Tommy, who is believed to be at least 15, has gone viral for his bizarre antics, gaining almost a million followers since his first appearance in December.

“If he grabs the ankle bone, it hurts a little. It’s more like a shell-bash,” he says. “I’ll only buy white shoes now.

Harry started posting videos of Tommy wearing black shoes after friends liked a clip and suggested he share more. Her popular videos have now been liked over 39 million times and her grandmother Daphne “can’t believe” how viral her pet has gone.
