On Thursday, July 28, Solana Spaces, which was created with the help of the Solana Foundation, announced “the opening of the first permanent physical retail, educational, and community space dedicated to Web3” in New York City.
According to a Press release by Solana Spaces, which is based in San Francisco, aims to build “a collection of retail venues that provide an immersive educational experience for people interested in the Solana blockchain and web3.” The Solana Foundation “funded and helped incubate” Solana Spaces NYC. The founding team is “a group of retail designers and engineers who also founded b8ta, the innovative and award-winning electronics retailer”.
The Solana Spaces website says their stores are where you can learn more about Solana (and set up your Phantom wallet), check out “DeFi, NFTs, games, and a variety of Solana projects to earn immediate rewards” (Orc can “teach you how to trade and learn about STAGEa play-to-earn game built on Solana”), immerse yourself in their Solana blockchain viewer and NFT gallery, discover various other projects in the Solana ecosystem, and shop for the latest Solana gear.
Vibhu Norby, CEO of Solana Spaces, had this to say:
“Solana has the most active and fastest growing developer ecosystem in Web3 today, exemplified in part by its large number of daily active users. Even with that in mind, we won’t rest until everyone is integrated into space. We’ve collaborated with some of Solana’s top projects and creators to craft an open and accessible introduction to crypto-technology. It’s an experience we think many people will love.“
And Brandon Millman, CEO and co-founder of Phantom, said:
“Solana Spaces creates a truly immersive experience that will help people experience Web3 in a fun and interactive way. Education and discovery is a completely different experience in person. We are thrilled to be Solana Spaces Featured Wallet Partner and look forward to welcoming so many to the crypto ecosystem.“
The press release also mentions that Solana Spaces “plans to feature a list of new products and brand collaborations that will be updated frequently.” For example, during opening week, this location “will showcase a limited-edition physical and digital shoe designed in collaboration with Blanksoles, as well as NETGEAR’s Meural Digital Canvas allowing users to connect their Phantom Wallet to project their own NFTs.
