The minor in SCAD Sneaker Design is available to SCAD Savannah students and Atlanta and includes new courses specifically created to amplify innovative and sustainable design and manufacturing practices. The minor consists of five courses designed to develop students’ design knowledge and skills in sketching, rendering, concept development, digital prototyping, and branding for luxury and high-performance sneakers. These courses provide SCAD students with access to cutting-edge technological resources and ensure that students complete the minor with a professional-grade portfolio that includes physical and digital prototypes of original sneaker designs.

“From streetwear to sportswear, SCAD’s bees define what’s hot, high-end and happening,” said SCAD President and Founder Paula Wallace. “SCAD graduates work for the biggest names in the shoe game. They also launch their own lines, like Q4 Sports, where the SCAD alum quintin williams teams up with NBA stars to design shoes that command attention. So many SCAD bees are already at the top of the sneaker game, and SCAD’s new sneaker design program is empowering future sneakerheads around the world to launch their creative careers. It’s a slam dunk.”

Offered within the School of Fashion, the minor in Sneaker Design exemplifies SCAD’s elite status in art and design education, innovation and creative business leadership, and demonstrates the mission of the university to prepare students for professions at the forefront of changing industries. SCAD alumni are already making waves in the $80 billion international industry, working with top brands like Nike, adidas, YEEZY, Reebok, Skechers and others, and building their own successful businesses.

Coinciding with the launch of the Sneaker Design Minor, SCAD is showcasing designs by talented students and alumni in an exhibit at SCAD Atlanta, March 28-December 28. 2 at the SCAD studio.
