Sarah Jessica Parker sets up a new boutique in the West Village.
In an Instagram post on Friday afternoon, Parker said the company was opening a new SJP Collection flagship at the corner of Bleecker and Perry streets.
“Big move to the big city! We wrap our shoes, our hearts and our new flagship #sjpcollection around the beautiful corner of Bleecker and Perry Street in the heart of New York’s West Village. Around the corner from a girl I know well and a neighborhood we are thrilled to now call home,” Parker wrote.
She said they would be opening the store in “the very near future”. The store is currently decorated with a shoe mural that reads, “SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker. Coming.”
Parker has had a shoe store at 31 West 54th Street since April 2020. This store is the former home of Manolo Blahnik’s store. Parker’s former business partner in SJP was the late George Malkemus, who helped make Blahnik a major brand in the United States.
Parker closed her boutique at the South Street Seaport, which she had owned since the summer of 2018.
Last week Parker launched a line of wallpapers at Wallshoppe.
Parker company officials could not be reached for comment.
In an interview in April, Parker opened up about her love of retail and the importance of having a physical presence. She said there’s this thing about having your own store, having the keys to the store and being at the checkout and greeting someone. She said she loves tossing ideas at them and running to the stash.
“It’s an old-fashioned way to engage with people. It’s instant gratification, even if you don’t make a sale,” Parker said.
