On New Years Day, the association brings 600 pairs of “opportunities” to Muhlenberg County, Ky. Samaritan’s Feet has partnered with Central City Church of God for a large distribution event. The timing, given that parts of Muhlenberg County are still cleaning up and recovering from the devastating December 10 tornadoes, couldn’t be more perfect.
The shoes distributed by Samaritan’s Feet are intended for ALL children, whatever the circumstances. Each pair of shoes comes new in the box and all sizes are available for kids of all ages.
The distribution event begins at 10 a.m. CST on Saturday, January 1 and continues until 3 p.m. (or while supplies last). I suppose that with the immense need of the community, this stock of shoes will be quickly claimed. Some families in the region have lost almost everything in the storms.
Of course, such an ambitious endeavor requires a constant supply of volunteers. Central City Church of God is actively recruiting people to help.
As you can see from the poster above, the Samaritan’s Feet distribution event will take place in the church’s Fellowship Hall at 804 Federal Street.
Samaritan’s Feet made the news recently when it announced it was sending 10,000 pairs of shoes to the Commonwealth of Kentucky immediately after the December 10 storms. In fact, just before Christmas, a similar cast event took place in Dawson Springs, where Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman, British coach John Calipari and former basketball players from the British Wildcat have helped distribute 5,000 pairs of shoes to children whose families are being housed at resorts in Kentucky State Parks.
