Primark has built its reputation on fast fashion and, often, designer looks. But one of their so-called dupes falls far short of the usual buyer adoration.
The store’s own version of popular Crocs is on sale in stores across the UK, but it’s fair to say buyers are divided. Posting on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group, Nat Peek wrote: ‘£4 primark’, clearly impressed with the low price.
But there were others who felt they weren’t what one would want on their feet, MEN reports. Even though they were cheap as chips.
Shirley Medd defended the purchase, saying, “They’re awesome to put on when you’re pinching to hang the wash.” Spamm Ellward added: “I’ve done miles with these on my vacation, what a bargain it was.”
Carla Cass said, “Crocs are THE best. (these are my newest additions)..love them.. crocs and socks for the win.” Sophie Dooley said: “I’ve had them and love them.”
But the loud backlash against the faux-Crocs was something. Sharon Brannigan wrote: “Never ever will I put them on my feet,, nooooo way.”
Suz Hufton-Milnes lambasted: “Ask yourself why they’re £4. They’re the ugliest shoes ever.” Tina Richardson said: “Working in these clothes is one thing…but to wear for fashion…….ehhh no. However, they are also perfect to wear for mowing the grass…just to rinse them.”
Wendy McGurty said: “Great for gardening.. Nothing else.” Sammie Hutchinson criticized, “I wouldn’t take a pair if they were free.”
Michelle Collins Williams commented, “Set ’em on fire.” Kate Moscrop said: “They could be free and I would still leave them in the store.”
Primark has been approached for comment by the MEN.
