Yesterday, Mary Kate Olsen was spotted in her signature languorous layers. The Row co-founder is gone—no, floated in New York wearing an impeccably tailored long black coat that skimmed artfully her ankles. A burnt orange knit cardigan, which was coolly tucked into black silk harem pants, was visible under the outerwear. On her arm, Olsen opted for a rounded croc-embossed mahogany bag from The Row and a gigantic Keep mug filled with water. She finished the look with a black scarf and a layer of necklaces – including one made from wooden beads and a huge gold medallion – which were all reminiscent of her boho chic days in the 2000s.
While the look was certainly a high-priced bohemian work of art, Olsen balanced it with casual footwear: the Adidas Sambarose. The now-defunct shoe resembles the classic Adidas Sambas with their solid upper and three stripes down the side, but has a thicker platform sole. The shoes cost less than $100, but they can only be found through third-party retailers. For a similar solution, the classic Adidas Sambas are around $70 – an easy way to get the luxurious MK look.
This isn’t the first time Olsen has paired an affordable shoe with an outfit that’s likely to bring in four figures. The twin is a master of the high-low and usually focuses on an easy-to-wear shoe. In the past, Mary-Kate has worn humble slip-on Vans, plain flip flops and Birkenstock sandals, just like her sister Ashley. What better way to bring an outfit down to earth in style.
