For most of her career, Lindsey Vonn has only been seen in one pair of shoes: her ski boots. As a competitive skier, three-time Olympic medalist and record holder for most World Cup skiers (82), the public has grown accustomed to seeing her in the singular outfit of a racing suit, a helmet and a Head boots, skis and poles.
But since retiring from ski racing in 2019, Vonn has proven that her range of fashion and footwear extends far beyond the slopes. In FN’s “Shoe Game,” the athlete reveals that she really likes heels.
“The most love thing about wearing high heels is that it makes you look tall,” she said. “I feel like my posture is much better. I have terrible posture, so every time I wear heels I feel longer and more accentuated and more feminine – and just plain badass .
Vonn also talked about her must-haves for all facets of her life, from working out (Under Armour’s Project Rock sneakers) to shoes for a date.
“If I’m going on a date, I’m probably pretty relaxed — unless it’s a red carpet, which happens,” Vonn said. “I usually tend to wear Louis Vuitton flats or something.”
The athlete also reflected on one of her biggest fashion week moments, starring in Thom Browne’s Fall 2021 collection film, in which Vonn swept down the runways in a skirt, walking past models in surreal looks with bouffant accents. The skier also wore a couture look in the film that combined Browne’s signature suit and a gold evening dress, worn with high-heeled boots adorned with matching puffer jackets, which served as a substitute for ruby slippers in Dorothy a la Vonn. .Wizard of Oz” in the movie.
“Thom is such a visionary and he loves the Olympics, there are Olympic themes just about every season he does,” she said.
With the recent announcement that she will be serving as NBC’s sports commentator for the 2022 Olympics in Beijing, Vonn also offered some advice on doing après-ski the right way: “If you’re really, really après ski you wouldn’t take off your boots, you would ski to the bar and then ski away from the bar at the end of the day.”
Vonn did, however, reveal that she is working with Head on a new après-ski boot for all non-skiers, which will be unveiled with the next athlete capsule with the athletic brand.
