Hoboa leather accessories brand, signed a five-year lease on 1,000 square feet to 1265 Wisconsin Ave. N.W. in Georgetown, marking its entry into the Washington, DC market.
The property belongs to a private investor. Previously, the space was occupied by a shoe store John Fluevogwho left in February after 10 years.
Hobo has its roots in Annapolis, Maryland. The new store is just its first retail location to open since its flagship Annapolis store opened in 1991.
“Georgetown holds a special place in my heart” Ray Koren, co-founder of Hobo and visionary director, told Commercial Observer. “My lifelong love of craftsmanship was born in my mother’s iconic sandal store in Georgetown in the 1970s. We are proud to establish a retail presence in the heart of the Georgetown community. The space embodies our brand ethos, creating an inviting environment alongside the many boutique boutiques on the nation’s capital’s historic streets.
The store, which opened October 1, features embossed leather, mocha patchwork and vibrant suede among its collection. Next month, he’ll unveil a music-inspired holiday collection, according to Ray.
The company has partnered with Jump, a New York and Chicago-based retail platform that builds and operates physical locations for digital-native brands in cities and popular neighborhoods. Other Georgetown businesses Leap works with include traceable wristband company Little Words Project and sustainable cashmere brand Naadam.
“DC, is a high-traffic, affluent area with shoppers interested in a wide range of products and lifestyles,” Rebecca Fitts, associate vice president of real estate at Leap, said in a prepared statement. “We see a tremendous amount of opportunity and are excited to bring these modern and stunning brands to the DC shopper.”
Leap signed the lease directly with the landlord and partnered with Rohrer real estate partners to secure the lease.
