While Biddeford continues to be one of the fastest growing towns in Maine, this growth is attracting more than young residents looking to escape Portland’s prices and a few extra dollars from tourism. It is also attracting new restaurants and retail businesses to the area. According to the Saco Bay NewsHomeGoods, one of America’s fastest growing retail chains, plans to expand and open a new store in Biddeford Later this year.
Home items currently has two other locations in Maine. The Rockland, Bangor and Scarborough stores have been hugely successful, so it only makes sense that the company will continue to expand in the state. It looks like HomeGoods will be opening its new Biddeford store in the same Mariner Way square that is home to Target and TJ Maxx.
Similar to its parent company TJ Maxx, HomeGoods has exploded in popularity thanks to its brand name offerings at reduced prices. HomeGoods operates like a scaled-down department store, offering everything from home decor to kitchen and bath items. In most cities where HomeGoods operates, it’s either attached to another store under the TJ Maxx umbrella, such as Marshall’s or Sierra.
HomeGoods expects its new Biddeford store to open this fall. The company is currently looking for positions to fill in the new location.
