FREDERICK COUNTY, Maryland – A theft from the Francis Scott Key Mall in Frederick led to the arrest of a suspect and the flight from another scene with jewelry valued at $ 24,000.

According to a statement from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO), MPs responded Sunday after 1 p.m. to a theft at Walden Jewelers’ home. Upon arrival, mall security and a “local citizen” held Francisco Drew Vaughn, 18, of Temple Hills inside the store. The FCSO statement did not indicate how Vaughn is linked to the theft and whether he faces charges.

According to the FCSO, there was a “second suspect” linked to the theft who fled the scene “in an older Audi model, black in color with a faded roof”. MPs said the second suspect was seen wearing “a black colored Hilfiger jacket with ‘Hilfiger’ in white lettering on top of the hood, light jeans and green and white sneakers.”

MPs say the second suspect fled with a jewelry case valued at $ 2,000 and a diamond-encrusted watch valued at $ 22,000.

FCSO Sheriff Chuck Jenkins said in a statement there was an increased presence of foot patrols and mobile units around local businesses in the area.

“We will not let Frederick County become another part of America where crime and looting becomes rampant this holiday season,” he said in the statement.

Anyone with information on the second suspect is urged to call FCSO detectives at 301-600-3664 and reference case 21-130586.
