A day before starting their UAAP Season 84 campaign, the Adamson Soaring Falcons got a pleasant surprise from two of their idols.
Former Nash Racela players Roger Pogoy and Baser Amer sent Nike shoes, shirts and slippers to Adamson’s guards.
And his former players’ gesture was greatly appreciated by the Soaring Falcons first-year coach.
“Very happy and, at the same time, grateful to Baser and Roger for their help. Isang text lang nag yes-agad!” said Racela, who led Far Eastern University to the UAAP ’78 season championship.
“I’m sure they know how beneficial it is for college players to get support of any kind.”
Pogoy and Racela go far.
It was Racela who helped groom and develop Pogoy in FEU. Among the pros, Racela also managed the Cebuano in TNT from 2016 to 18.
Racela and Amer, meanwhile, worked together at Blackwater from 2019-21.
Of course, players were giddy after receiving the gifts.
“Our Adamson players will appreciate their gesture and I hope it inspires them to give their best,” Racela continued.
Racela, ever the prankster, joked that the next time Pogoy and Amer send shoes, it’ll suit their bigs.
