Let’s face it, Pokémon trainers probably have to walk a lot. Pokémon Go coaches must also do their part. So why not do it in style? To celebrate Pokémon’s 25th anniversary, Converse and The Pokémon Company have teamed up to create some super cool Pokémon shoes and sneakers.
Coaches young and old can choose from two Chuck Taylor All Star models: Poké Ball and First Partners. The Pokémon “Poké Ball” sneakers feature a graphic black Poké print on a white shoe. We spy on Charmander, Pikachu, Meowth, Jigglypuff and more, to say hello to them. These Pokémon Converse shoes also replace one of the brand’s traditional ankle patches with a… you guessed it. Poké Ball. Intrepid coaches can also spy on the traditional red and white ball lurking elsewhere.
The “First Partners” Poké-sneaker features many of the same Pokémon. But the title of the shoe takes us to a more emotional place. The official description of the Pokémon shoe shares: “With an all-black powder-coated digital print, a cast of first mate Pokémon takes over the classic canvas.” Technically, we’re not sure if Jigglypuff counts as a starting Pokémon. Although we assume we can define them as a collection of Pokémon that we encountered early on.
Either way, we’re delighted to see Meowth included in the group. At least spiritually, it was absolutely the starting Pokémon for Team Rocket, and it deserves some respect. Although… he’s exiled on the other side of the shoe, away from the other Pokémon. But life is tough there for a member of Team Rocket.
Converse has even more Pokémon shoe options for the littlest trainers among us. The children are very lucky. These Chuck Taylor All Star Easy-On for toddlers are available in Pikachu and Jigglypuff options. Pickachu sneakers showcase the adorable Pokemon face on the toe. And the Jigglypuff sneakers are decorated with tiny musical notes. So cute, we can’t stand it. And we also require them in adult sizes, stat. So we can all play Poké.
The Pokémon x Converse Collaboration Shoes go on sale Jan. 7 at 10 a.m.ET. The collection also includes shirts, hats, backpacks and more. Good luck catching them all.
