Japanese designer Fumito Ganryu has just unveiled a second collaboration with Converse under his eponymous label.

Here are the Baskate shoes, a pair that combines the functionality of basketball sneakers and skateboard shoes. Its silhouette is based on Converse’s ERX 260 model, which was a huge hit among NBA superstars in the 1980s.

The Baskate shoes retain the overall shape of the beloved ERX 260 silhouette, while details inspired by skateboard shoes are also incorporated. The classic “CONS” logo is also embossed on the Baskate tongues, but in a slightly enlarged size. Yet unlike traditional ERX 260 styles which almost always come with a white base, the Baskate shoes are doused in smooth black from upper to sole. Fitted with Converse’s “ENERGY WAVE” midsoles for added cushioning, the shoes also come with ankle protection.

Launching today, the Baskate shoes retail for 29,700 yen (approximately US$210). Available for purchase from Converse’s website and Fumito Ganryu’s online store, as well as the following stores in Japan.
