A separate authority should be established to approve the structural design to ensure the safety of the building, said Md Jashim Uddin, chairman of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).
He also urged the capital development authority, Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha (Rajuk), to revise the new Detailed Area Plan or DAP.

He made the call during the first meeting of the FBCCI Standing Committee on Real Estate and Housing which was held at the office of the apex trade body in Dhaka on Sunday.
Jashim Uddin said that the Rajuk gives approval to the architectural design of the buildings but no agency is there to approve their structural design.
Thus, a separate authority should be formed to ensure the security of buildings, he said.
The government should facilitate automated brick production with political support to stop the pollution of traditional brick fields, he said.
Automated bricks are more affordable, the FBCCI president said.
Earlier, FBCCI Vice President, Md Amin Helaly said that the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (Rehab) should come up with a model village plan, which would include all modern facilities to ensure a decent life in rural areas.
He suggested that Rehab continue its discussions with the governor of the central bank and the association concerned for easy project loans in the real estate sector.
