A major shoe store has closed its branch in Coulby Newham.
Shoezone served its last customers at The Parkway shopping center and closed shop, after several years in business at the busy complex. The retailer has around 400 stores across the UK, including several on Teesside.
Staff emptied the unit after the chain reached the end of its lease at the mall. A poster was placed in the store window directing customers to visit the chain at its nearest stores on Linthorpe Road in Middlesbrough or Cleveland Retail Park, Skippers Lane.

Parkway Mall manager Zoe France said that although these are “early days”, there has already been interest from potential new tenants who want to move into the vacant unit. In April, bosses confirmed that The Range department store could open a branch in the centre.
Big plans for owner Evolve Estates would involve demolishing Dalby House, opposite the site’s Tesco petrol station, and replacing it with two major new store units in a move that would create 100 jobs in the area. The Range has “expressed interest” in opening a 30,000 square foot store in one of the units.
